After suspending 20 processing plants in Brazil from exporting meat to the EU, the Associação Brasileira de Proteína appeals to the World Trade Organisation (WTO)
Urging Europe to reconsider the ban, Brazilian Minister of Agriculture Blairo Maggi said, "They are taking advantage of taking us out of the market due to sanitary concerns, which are unfounded," reports Global Meat News.
According to Food Navigator, the vote, taken last thursday, was unanimously in favour of the ban on imports from 20 of Brazil's processing companies owing to flaws in the country's control system.
It's reported that following the BRF investigation, exports of chicken have seen a decline of 9.7 percent.
